MUSEUM NOTES: JUNE 5, 2020

QUILTING CLASSES
On June 13th, Kathy Province is hosting two quilting classes in the museum’s gallery room. The morning class is for beginners, 8:30-12pm. The afternoon class is for intermediate quilters, 1:30-5pm. Each class is $20, cash or check. Come into the museum to sign up.

T-SHIRT MEME FUNDRAISER
Friday June 5th is the last day to pre-order the “Straight Outta…Canadian, Texas” t-shirt. You can choose between maroon or ash gray, and the shirt sizes range from Small to XXX Large. This is a limited time t-shirt, so please don’t miss out

LITTLE SISTERS OF THE POOR
The Little Sisters of the Poor is a congregation of Catholic nuns and volunteers that was founded in France in 1839 and still survives today. Their mission is to provide and care for the elderly poor. Canadian had its very own chapter in 1909, as seen in this photograph. Unfortunately, we do not know who these women were or how long the Canadian chapter was active. It’s a part of Canadian’s history that has been lost over time.

This photograph is one of 24 historic photograph images used in the making of a patch quilt that will be raffled this summer. Raffle tickets are $5 a ticket or $20 for 5 tickets.

The museum’s finances have been hit hard from the coronavirus, so any and all financial assistance is most welcomed. Please support your local museum by paying for a membership, making a donation, or purchasing a t-shirt or quilt raffle ticket. Thank you!
