MUSEUM NOTES: AUGUST 4, 2019

THIS FALL AT THE MUSEUM

It’s hard to believe that we are already in September! The summer went by incredibly fast! September to November is booking up quickly with events and we can’t wait to share what all we have booked.

GR WARD WESTERN ART

This week, Gary Ward is setting up his artwork. On Tuesday, September 10th, 5pm-7pm, the museum will host an artist reception. Be sure to stop by to meet Gary and enjoy his western themed paintings and sculptures. Light snacks and drinks will be served. Later in November, Gary will speak at a luncheon presentation. We will put out that luncheon date as soon as we get it scheduled.

VOLUNTEERS AND MEMBERSHIP APPRECIATION LUNCHEON

On Sunday, September 22nd, the Museum Board of Directors will express their appreciation to our members and volunteers by providing a tasty meal. I am preparing a brief report on what the museum has accomplished over the previous year and what we have planned for next year. Postcards are going out this week to our volunteers and members. Seating is limited, so make sure to RSVP as soon as possible.

DAUGHTERS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION
The October monthly meeting of the Daughters of the American Revolution is arranged to meet at the museum on Thursday, October 10th. I have been asked to speak to the ladies about my service in Iraq. I plan to share many entertaining stories, photographs, and life lessons learned from that experience.

HEMPHILL COUNTY HISTORICAL COMMISSION
The Hemphill County Historical Commission is scheduled to meet on Tuesday, October 15th.

WHODUNIT?
This year, the Canadian Arts Alliance has chosen the museum for the location of their yearly mystery dinner community theater. The cast is learning their lines and preparing their characters. Two shows are scheduled for Saturday, October 12th, and one matinee show on Sunday, October 13th. Show times are still to be determined.

RENTALS
The Gallery Room is available to rent for functions. We also have tables, chairs, and a large outdoor tent available to rent as well. Call us at 806-323-6548 for reservations.
