We are beginning to make preparations for our annual Fall Foliage Quilt Show. Reminder cards will go out next week to those who have previously shown. If you have not shown before, we would love to have you join the fun. The museum will accept quilts through Friday noon, October 19th. We are available to pick up quilts if needed.

Art work by Ronda Bartlett and Lauren Haley, will be on exhibit through Fall Foliage.

Wow, this is proving to be a busy fall for us at the museum. We are also gearing up for our Smithsonian Institute exhibit called Hometown Teams. This is a big deal for our small museum and the community of Canadian. We are one of seven Texas town selected to host this amazing exhibit. Not everyone is able to visit the Smithsonian, so this presents a fantastic chance to get a taste of their work.

Hometown Teams focuses on the many roles that sports play in America. When sports are mentioned, most think of football and basketball. Sports can be played on the playground, in your back yard, in the arena, baseball field, and marching in the band. These are only a fraction of sports that Americans play. A few of the lessons we learn from playing sports are; teamwork, hard work pays off, managing time, encouraging others, celebrating the win and dealing with defeat.

This exhibit will be up and ready to see beginning Tuesday, November 27th through December 21st. We are planning several special events, information will be provided as the date draws near.
