MUSEUM NOTES: AUGUST 9, 2017

THIS WEEK AT THE MUSEUM

The morning air is turning a bit crisper, and it’s beginning to feel like football weather. As students prepare for a hectic school year, we are gearing up for a busy fall at the museum.

PHOTOGRAPHY SHOW

Terry Henderson has set up her photography show in the gallery room, and it looks spectacular. She is very talented and we are thrilled to show off her work. We will have a reception for Terry on Thursday, August 17th, from 5-7pm. This show will be up for the months of August and September.

TWILLING CLASS

Mary Jane Fast, of Guymon Oklahoma, will give a Twilling Class on Saturday, September 30th. Twilling is a knotted stitch that was mainly used for borders and outlining designs on quilts, bedspreads, curtains and tablecloths. We will provide detailed information along with the cost of the class at a later date.

MUSEUM HOURS

The museum is open Tuesday through Friday, from 9:00am to 5:00pm. Our Saturday hours are 1:00-4:00pm, these hours will continue through Fall Foliage weekend.

EDUCATION

Teachers, as you plan your school calendar, we would love to be included in the education process. Do you homeschool? The museum provides a wealth of information on Hemphill County, and the community of Canadian. Feel free to call us at 323-6548, we will be happy to discuss your needs and how the museum might be of help.

GALLERY ROOM

The museum galley room provides a nice, spacious area for your private party or business meeting. We also have table and chair rental for your special events outside of the museum.
