MUSEUM NOTES: december 14, 2016

TEXT PANELS

For those of you who have not gotten into the museum to see the amazing transformation going on, this is a sample of our text panels. We currently have 39 panels hanging, which put us at about the halfway mark as far as text is concerned. Right now the areas covered are; Early Exploration, Buffalo Hunters, Red River War, Railroad, Ranching, Organization of Hemphill County, the WCTU, Hemphill County Library, Commerce, Characters of Canadian, Homes and Pioneer Trails. The Schools of Hemphill County, Churches and continuation of Commerce are all in progress at this time. These panels are temporary as we gather all the information and make sure it is correct. At that time, we will order the permanent panels which will be more eye-appealing and a lighter, sturdier material.

MONITORS
We will be adding two monitors for family and ranching history in our exhibits. We would love to have every family provide us with your family/ranching history and a photo, which we will then put on these monitors. All visitors will be able to access this information at two different stations in our exhibits. Your information will provide us with a richer history of our community and county. The first page is free to you, so please consider helping us offer a more informed visit to the museum. If you have any questions about this project, please give us a call.

GALLERY ROOM

Our gallery room not only provides a nice space for art exhibits, but it’s a wonderful room for business meetings, rehearsal dinners, birthday parties, etc. With fresh paint, new carpet, pull down screen, projector, wireless internet access, equipped with a full catering kitchen and sound system, it will meet most needs you might have. For additional information call the museum at 806-323-6548.
